Can we finally get Guild HO's? Would make solo playing feel more alive

    Posted: 11 Jun 2020 07:45 AM PDT

The guild HO would operate the same way as a normal HO just with some changes that make it feel more like a town. I personally enjoy seeing people run around in town while playing, and it would be cool to see your guildmates all the time while playing. I think this would breathe a lot of life into the world and make it feel more "alive" outside of town.

    • Guild HO can only be edited by GM or Officers
    • Character specific HO items would be phased for that individual, this means Player A and B both still see the stash in the same location, but when that player clicks on the stash, they only see their items. The same way it works in town
    • Phased also applies to the map device. You only see your portals in the HO unless if you invite someone to your party. So if I start a map, my friend will only see my body vanish when I take a portal they cannot see unless they are in my party. Similar to how portals work in town.
    • Decorations placed come from the decoration stash of the officer or GM who placed it down. So you willingly give up decorations from your own decoration stash to populate the Guild HO. If this dilutes the value of master favor when purchasing decorations, maybe GGG allows the GM to designate only 1 person as the HO builder and all decorations come from that 1 person if GGG is concerned about people "splitting" the cost to build the HO. This would serve as an additional sink for master favor that sometimes builds up into the millions
    • Guild HO layout is selected from a list of available HO's from GM or officers. If a base is selected, the person who had that HO, "gives up" that HO for personal use until the Guild HO is changed. This prevents someone from using a super rare HO such as Sanguine HO for Guild use, and personal use. (although admittedly the purpose of the guild HO is to offer an alternative to the personal HO so some people may never use their personal HO if they enjoy the social aspect of the guild HO) If two people have the same HO available for selection, you select the persons name from a dropdown of who is giving up their HO slot. You can only select HO bases available to yourself to prevent someone from "stealing" your HO base that you wanted to use personally.
    • If changes to a guild HO are cumbersome for the server, similar to how you cannot right-click items out of a guild stash because it needs to update the info across all guild members at the same time, maybe have decorations and visual changes only update once every few hours, or 24h and the server does all the change calculations at once for all players. The visual change can only happen for a player when they are not in the HO to prevent someone from getting stuck inside a decoration. If the change over time happens while someone is currently in the HO, only that player would not see the visual changes until they leave the HO or logout. Then the HO will be updated for that player.
    • Visual player limits can be similar to how they are in towns. If you're in a massive guild of hundreds of players, you'd only see maybe a max of 20 people in the guild HO running around selected at random unless if you party up.

Any thoughts on this? Beyond logging in, if you're not a group player, the endgame can feel pretty empty and isolated. Would be cool to see my friends running around mapping while I am. Of course people have the option to not use the guild HO if they so choose. Honestly this is something I would even pay for as a "guild" MTX.

edit: Whoa thanks for the reddit gold and awards guys!

    PoE-Overlay Community Fork

    Posted: 10 Jun 2020 08:24 PM PDT

    Hello exiles,

I'm a big fan of open-source software, so PoE-Overlay going closed-source was a bit sad to see.

In order to enable a community-developed version of PoE-Overlay, based on the original MIT-licensed version, I have forked the repo here: https://github.com/PoE-Overlay-Community/PoE-Overlay

This fork is based on version 0.6.28, which you can see here. I've fixed some broken links, updated package URLs, run the tests (there are a few errors to fix) and linter, compiled, and run the app; everything works as expected.

While I will not be actively developing this fork, I would be happy to test and review community contributions, and to enable community members to also do those things directly in Github. That said, I do intend to add complete Linux support this week as time permits.

If you're still using the open source version of PoE-Overlay (not the Overwolf version), feel free to request features and report issues on the fork.

Story about 40 lvl 100 characters in Softcore Delirium

    Posted: 11 Jun 2020 03:41 AM PDT

Hi, my name is ttx, i like to kill monsters fast in the video game path of exile,

    https://www.pathofexile.com/account/view-profile/turdtwisterx/characters

I know far most people dont give a shit about stuff like this for good reasons, but i had quite some people messaging me in-game wanting me to make a post about this, so here i am.

So to start things off, about 3 months ago when Delirium was about to start, Covid-19 got announced, pausing pretty much all jobs in my country for the entirety of the league, so that made me think it was time to do something crazy, something that havnt been done before, even through it pretty much requires no skill at all, the only requirement is that you have to be obsessed with the process so you can do it all day, which for me, is pushing as many 100 characters as i possibly can, because i enjoy that, and can do it all day everyday, insanely deep depth delves has been done multiple times, 13k this league etc, so i didnt want to do that (i dont enjoy it anyway) even through its extremely profitable compared to xp blasting if you want really high xp/h. As most people know, theres pretty much only 3 fast viable xp methods in this game, pure chayula, 5way, and double beyond mapping with unique watchstones, elder scarab, and plague of rats/frogs. - Pure chayula in my opinion is only good for bad/medicore builds and is also by far the most boring of the 3, 5ways being quite alot better if you are the one killing with a instant resetter, easy to watch twitch etc while doing, not too entertaining either, but definitely more enjoyable than pure stones, and then double beyond mapping, which is the most enjoyable one, the most risky one, the ones that requires full focus, and the most expensive one. The 2 methods i used was 5ways and double beyond, since i have very good reputation from Legion league with my free 5way carry service thread (played 30 characters to 100 in Legion due to it was in summer holidays, + i have over 50 pages of vouches) that and beyond mapping was the obvious choices, switching between them when i get whispers from people.

What builds did you play? ResidentSleeper herald stacker? only the first 1-2weeks, and then later only as bosskiller. So to start things off at the beginning of the league, obviously, when you want to do something like this, you need a SHITTON of currency, so i started off as a MF deadeye and played with a auraguy for the first few days, just when i was about to switch to the famous self-curse hh build, purposeful harby was getting spread everywhere how completely broken it was, i switched to that immidiately and played some scuffed ranger with alpha's howl + skyforth just so i could put on the juicy damage auras and oneshot everything, rushing to 100 as fast as possible as it was very bad, 2,8k life at 99 with no defence other than kill stuff before they kill you, i switched to Kinetic Blast Guardian as soon as possible, played that to 100 two times (dont think i ever saw my hp move) before the famous "no mid league nerfs" nerf happened, removing Solstice's Vigil, tailwind boots, hh buffs, etc, so they no longer was 4x stronger. (I used my herald guy as conqueror/sirus killer only at this point) It was time to come up with a new build, as i didnt think the nerfed version was fast enough. I discussed with 1 of my homies what to do, and then he was like, now that you have to get SO MUCH curse effect (175%) to cap your hh buffs, why not play Occultist and stack as many curses as possible, and take advantage of the insane synergy between the Malediction node and the hh buff Gain 25% of Physical Damage as Extra Cold/Fire Damage, so thats exactly what i did, quadra curse Occultist, 1 baseline, 1 from whispers of doom annoint, 1 from the hunter mod, and 1 from Occultist, double corrupted shackles with ele weak/despair, synthesis herald of thunder frostbite implicit ring, and assassin's mark ring.

What skill did you play on the Occultist? so the 2 best options in my opinion was Kinetic Blast, or Blade Vortex, when i played the Guardian and carried 5ways with kb, i tested out awakened fork, turns out this shit is completely nuts on this skill, a gazillion projectiles and insane wall banging deleting everything instantly due to the bosses almost always are up against a wall, i also had a 4link single target power siphon setup just in case. I wanted to have so much damage that i could carry full party 5ways if people asked me to do so, and i wanted to do it with ease without any aurabot or whatever to buff me, i could also do 5orbed Delirium maps without a problem. I played the occultist 10-15 times i think, until finally there was good bows on the market that was worth mirroring to do the final switch.

What bow skill did you play? Lightning arrow or Ice shot? even through Ice Shot is probably the most popular one, i always thought it was shit to play compared to la even tho it has higher numbers, it also feels laggy to me, and if you shoot ice shots against a mob that stands at a wall, it basically does no damage, while la has a shotgun effect like kb, so i only played Lightning Arrow. For pure damage output which is all that matters for carrying 5ways (maps u can do whatever) i like to play Slayer for the 20% cull, 30% more dmg to bosses, etc. I also tried a few different ascendancies but it wasnt as good. I think i played about 10-15 slayers too, until we got quite late into the league and people stopped whispering about 5way carries.

The way I clear extremely fast in maps is getting buffs from the first few packs, then kinda do the Winter Orb playstyle where i shoot once, and run as fast as possible around for 4seconds while Mirage Archer obliterates everything + explody chest, Herald of Ash, Herald of Ice does the rest of the work.

The final and ultimate tech for blasting is the Warcry Berserker which i didnt know was a thing since 1-2 weeks ago, it has the most stupid skill tree, literally just pathing for 3 Inspireds, 1 Voices with the curse effect i need, 1 Voices with Mob Mentalities and Cry Wolfs, and one regular cluster with the same, NO damage nodes whatsoever on the tree, didnt matter through, because Berserk is a badass ability, i had about 20sec uptime and 3.75sec cooldown with the self-curse setup.

I realized in the end there was no point in extending my hh buffs because i cleared a map in 20-25sec, and only looting little to no items, so i dropped my self-curse items + curse effect jewel, slapped on some tailwind/elusive boots, rampage gloves, berserk enchant, and even more warcry cluster jewels, and this is the closest possible i could get to the pre-nerf herald stuff, i didnt have the 4x stronger aura hh buffs, i wasnt immortal, but I DID HAVE PERMA 40% MORE MOVESPEED.

I played pretty much solo the entire time, except first few days of league start, and lab carries, with that help, my characters was ready to map after 2h 45min-3h

What build did i use to level with? So this league the Hollow Palm fisting build is extremely popular for lvling, but since i always have leveled with a fully juiced twink rain of arrows character in previous leagues, i prefered that.

Do i think someone will try to beat this "record" in another 3 month league? Probably not, i dont see the reason why anyone would do so, as i mentioned earlier, it requires little to no skill to do this, just a IMMENSE amount of time, and mental illness, lets be real.

I realized recently i could have gotten 50 characters, but then i would have to sacrifice twitch chilling, and sleep, and i didnt want to do that, i wanted to sleep until i woke up by myself, and cutting twitch time is not a option, somedays i like to watch the racers for the entire day. I think 40 characters is fine, i might even play a few more before the new league as i dont really care about league start practice and have nothing else to play/do with my time currently and im addicted to BLASTING.

I think that was all, thanks to everyone that helped me/played with along the way, i had a absolute BLAST from start to finish, 10/10 would do again, but probably never will due to the amount of time it takes, and i didnt recieve any money for doing it, was only for fun. The only reason i had this amount of time was because of lockdown thats about to end, if someone would like to know additional infomation for whatever reason let me know. gg

Put actual numbers for "nearby" in the advanced tooltip

    Posted: 11 Jun 2020 01:13 AM PDT

I know and understand why nearby is a thing and won't be changed, but would there be any downside to having the actual information available in the advanced tooltip? That way, advanced players could have easy access to it without confusing newer players.

Why does "Gain 1 Endurance Charge every second if you've been hit recently" not trigger with block?

    Posted: 11 Jun 2020 06:11 AM PDT

I'm talking about the Juggernaut "Unflinching" node as well as the "Enduring Composure" notable on the cluster jewel. Every source I've looked at online claims that blocks should count as hits, but this doesn't seem to be working properly. Has no one ever tested this, or is this a relatively new problem? My max block Gladiator is very obviously not triggering this effect from the cluster jewel as I stand still and let a single monster wack me.

Hey, I’m Uri Marchand, CEO & Co-Founder of Overwolf. Ask me anything.

    Posted: 11 Jun 2020 09:02 AM PDT

In the last couple of days I've been focusing on reading your feedback and I'd love to personally talk with you. We might be new to some of you, and I regret not doing an introduction ahead.

I'm Uri, a gamer myself (LoL, PUBG) and a former air force search and rescue helicopter pilot. Me and my co-founders started Overwolf ten years ago with a big ambition to build apps for all gamers. That didn't work so well, and at the end of 2013 we pivoted to building a framework. So, instead of building apps, we wanted to empower 3rd party creators by building an engine for gaming apps.

For those who don't know, Overwolf is a framework and SDK for 3rd party developers, used to build gaming apps. We provide 360 degrees of support, with tech, design, testing, publishing, analytics and everything an HTML + JavaScript developer needs to develop gaming apps.

I'm going to be here for the next couple of hours to answer any questions you may have.

So did we ever find out what happened to the skill tree planner?

    Posted: 11 Jun 2020 02:03 AM PDT

An oft-requested feature that was in the 3.0 beta, but never made it into the game proper. It would have been a good addition based off feedback. If it was denied entirely it'd be another deal, but it was so close to making it into the game that it's literally in the 3.0 patch notes.

This is the only developer comment I've ever found on it:

It will be enabled in the near future, thanks for the report!

So what ancient vaults of forbidden knowledge must I plunder to know where it's gone, and why? Why was it in the beta, but taken out? Why is it in the patch notes? Why the near complete and utter silence on it? Not even a "hey we changed our minds," just nothing. It's so bizarre, y'know?

Chieftain's Valako, Storm's Embrace is becoming rather incompatible with the new patch

    Posted: 11 Jun 2020 06:33 AM PDT

One of the themes GGG is trying to push for this patch is the "slow but powerful" melee attacks, especially in the form of slams. Among the touched up slam skills is Tectonic Slam, something that always seemed almost custom made for Chieftain, especially since the 3.7 changes. But with the 3.11 information so far, Chieftain feels almost left out.

First and obvious, albeit indirect, change is the fact that you can apparently now get Covered in Ash for virtually free, with the Infernal Cry (although no numbers are given, and the "It covers enemies in ash, a debuff that scales with the power of nearby enemies." line seems to imply it will not have a static strength). That previously was a rather exclusive debuff, available only to Chieftains, Scion-Chieftains and Amulet-Chieftains commonly known as Xoph's Blood. But now you seemingly just need to finish a quest and you get access to that mechanic for virtually no cost. That isn't bad in a vacuum (more build options more better), but it does drop the stocks of a regular Chieftain a bit, especially once you consider that his Ash application has only 20% chance to trigger on hit, which doesn't go particularly well with "slow but powerful" mantra.

Then you get to the Endurance Charge branch. At first glance it looks pretty good, since you get decent bonuses for having large number of charges up, allowing you to easily get some 30-35% increased physical and fire damage, as well as an easy way to match the Tectonic Slam's charge consumption. 70% increased damage isn't gamechanging, but since half of that gets applied pre-conversion it would certainly be noticeable. The really awkward part though, is the supposed finishing notable, Valako, Storm's Embrace. +1 EC is always good, but when it comes to the promised "15% more damage" for losing those charges, it becomes really odd. You see, there are only 4 skills that allow you to burn your Endurance Charges - Discharge, Immortal Call, Tectonic Slam and Vigilant Strike. The first two are somewhat counterproductive with the previous notable, as you are not burning your charges in a controlled manner (and IC can't be used in sync every 4 seconds). Vigilant Strike is, well, Vigilant Strike and you can't sustain it as a main skill using Chieftain, still need Jugg for that. So the only option left is the most obvious one, the Tectonic Slam, right?

Remember the "slow but powerful" part? Well, it doesn't work here. Tectonic Slam burns an Endurance Charge every 3 attacks. To gain full benefit from Chieftain's notable, you need to have lost 5 Endurance Charges within the last 4 seconds. This means that in order for this notable, custom made to work with Tectonic Slam, to reach full potential with Tectonic Slam, you need 3*5/4 = 3.75 APS, almost that what you need for a Mjolner build.

Chieftain is certainly workable and you can make a build around the Tectonic Slam too. It's just that the one notable that was meant to work around it doesn't translate well anymore, and suddenly the biggest strength for the ascendancy is the godforsaken rotation buff for extra physical damage as fire. Chieftain isn't necessarily weak, but he certainly would feel outdated in 3.11.
