Best bow / ranged (non poison) build in 3.12?

    Posted: 25 Sep 2020 03:27 AM PDT

    Hey,

which bow / ranged build (non poison) would you recommed for 3.12?

    Most Important for me is:

    • fast mapping
    • can do most of the content
    • not melee :)

Maybe ice shot or ele hit?

    Thank you very much!

    New Heist Spectres?

    Posted: 24 Sep 2020 06:57 PM PDT

I know the patch just came out. but i've been eager to see what others have experimented with or have looked up.

Personally I saw this on POEDB and looked promising though i'm not 100% if the stats live up to what they say and if they're even raisable: https://poedb.tw/us/Thaumaturgy_Officer

This is my league starter. I'm enjoying it so far. Have done up to Sirus A5 with ease, and since then obtained even more damage. I will probably make a follow up video that is much more in depth but feel free to ask any questions here. Hope you guys enjoy it as much as I do!

Crackling Lance - My Experience w/ Medium Investment.

    Posted: 24 Sep 2020 02:16 PM PDT

So I've been seeing lots of people talking about how bad Crackling Lance is. And while I can agree on most fronts about how clunky it feels early on, I'm noticing that everyone is ditching it before they give it a chance to breath. Hopefully this sheds some light on whether or not it's actually a viable alternative to Arc/BL, etc.. and gives everyone a decent idea of what to expect with some investment (Around 15-20ex thus far)

So far starters, I'll put a nice little disclaimer here that this does require investment to achieve the results I have.. I leveled with it and felt how bad it was, trust me I know. But I stuck with it until T16 maps and have a decent idea of the process it went through to get it to this point.

    _________________________________________________________
    Mandatory Items

I've spent idk how long in Path of Building looking at so many different options for things. (I still could be wrong when it comes to how I've set things up, if you have any ideas or alternatives, feel free to comment). So far, here are the items I've found to be of huge value to the build.

    • Cloak of DefianceInsanely good for various reasons (Defensively, Huge Mana, saves a few points, the list goes on. I've been hesitant to try out the Replica Koam's, maybe when we can supplement the defensive gains from CoD
    • Atziri's FoibleGoes without saying. Massive for any Archmage Setup. Mana regen is big, Mana is big, Attribute requirements allow us to wear our Green gems without too much Dexterity investment.
    • Essence WormMana Reservation hurts our DPS by a lot. This negates all of that and allows us to boost up Wrath. When paired with Supreme Ego, it's a huge DPS boost. You can also opt to use Discipline here as well, or something else you find valuable. Personally, the gain from Wrath is very worth.
    • Pledge of HandsSo, here's the item I've been hesitant about. It's a massive DPS gain that allows us to push into the 6M+ DPS Range, at the cost of survivability (Coming from Wand/Shield). That being said, since I've been playing with it, it's proved to be a really great addition to the build, and with a bit more investment we can focus more on defense.

    _________________________________________________________

    Nice-to-haves

These items have definitely allowed me to get to where I am currently. Take them for what you will, but I think they're great additions (on the cheap)

    • Replica Lavianga's SpiritThe added Cast Speed + Increased Mana Cost of skills is a big DPS bump for under 5c. You'll notice how big of a difference Cast Speed makes with this setup.
    • Phantasmal Crackling LanceNow, I'm putting it under nice-to-have, but honestly, just grab it and start leveling it. 10% Cast Speed instead of the useless Regular Quality (Chance to Shock) is massive.

    _________________________________________________________

    Gearing & Stat Focus

I'm currently playing a Heirophant, but the option of choosing a different class/ascendency is your choice. They are probably just as viable, but I can't speak much on it as I haven't played it myself.

The main focus here is on: Be Resistance Capped

    1. Life
    2. Mana
    3. Cast Speed
    4. Mana Regen
    • Worth noting here that my Orb of Storms setup, while being of course, optional, provides huge amounts of QoL for mobs that make it past your barrage of Palpatine Lazer Deaths Beams. It also does metric f***tons of damage when fully 6-linked. This is probably not what I should be using it my chest for, but if you guys have better suggestions, please feel free to let me know.

    _________________________________________________________

    Downsides & Closing Notes

Biggest downside currently is the ramp up time.. i.e how long it takes to reach Max Intensify Stacks. Couple that with the fact that we are forced to stand still while Spell Echo+Greater Spell Echo go off (3 Casts), it leaves us vulnerable to being hit by stuff, resulting in a somewhat annoying playlist with low levels of Cast Speed. That being said, it seems as though higher levels of Cast Speed or even Cooldown Reduction might solve this. Remains to be tested.

*Note that I'm currently not running The Agnostic due to it feeling awful at times being OOM in dense packs of mobs, so energy shield is still helping out with EHP.

    Pastebin Link https://pastebin.com/kdxGyviu

Note that my setup is currently using an alt-quality Crackling Lance. In order to see proper DPS numbers, you can manually enter Crackling Lance into the Pledge of Hands setup.

I hope this gives people a little bit more confidence in the spell. I'll be sure to update this post as I go along deeper into maps, I'm encroaching on Awakener 8 at the moment. And maybe after all is said and done it still falls short of Arc & the like, but hey. Someone needed to try! If you'd like to see it in action, I stream often over on https://www.twitch.tv/preheet (shameless plug, I apologize) Come say whatsup!

    Cheers everyone.

Help a Noob to find the right build

    Posted: 25 Sep 2020 03:08 AM PDT

    Hello yall,

I am looking for a new build to play because i am a little burned out already from the 2 characters that i have in Heist. (Big Ducks Poison BV, and a Scourge Arrow PF)

What do I want in a build?

Id like something that is straight forward in terms of playstyle and gearing, is fast, doesnt instantly die in a pack and be able to do the first few conquerors up to awlvl 4 without much of a struggle. If theres a guide or video then its a big plus for me because I am bad at gearing efficiently

The Builds that i am currently thinking about are Flicker Strike and Lacerate gladi but i am open to all suggestions

My goal is to hit red maps and be able to farm up some currency to optimize my gear... if it can do all other content beside mapping then its a big bonus.

Please dont suggest me ED/C, Puncture Gladi, Vortex Occultist, FB Raider or a Miner because i either dont like the Playstyle or I have played those builds before for atleast a league in a row.

    Looking for reroll options

    Posted: 25 Sep 2020 02:57 AM PDT

Hi guys! I'm currently mapping high reds but got tired of my build. Looking for something that is not DOT (tired of edc and tr), not shadow ascendancy (played too much of it), scales with money and can do bosses but is definitely more of a zoom zoomer rather than boss killer. Also something that isnt '50ex entry'.

Looking for off-meta speed clear second character

    Posted: 24 Sep 2020 10:59 PM PDT

I've played my Vortex Occultist now since league start and made about 10-15 ex. It's a great tanky character but the clear isn't the fastest. Going to use it as a bosses/harder content mostly from now on.

So I don't want to do Cospris Assassin, ED/C trickster, bleed bow glad etc. Looking for something that's close to as effective but less mainstream (yes, hipster move).

Been interested in fireball for a while but really open to completely other options.

Replica Duskdawn - 10% base crit 1.25 APS, interesting for CoC? Let's theorycraft!

Replica Duskdawn - 10% base crit 1.25 APS, interesting for CoC? Let's theorycraft!

    Hi,

I was checking all the replica items to see if I could find a fun new item to build around and I saw the new replica Duskdawn. It's identical to the original, but instead of criticial chance for spells it has base crit chance, bringing it to a respectable ~10%, with 1.25 APS.

I was building around it on PoB, using a trickster and stacking block, and ended up with something interesting without using insane gear or cluster jewels:

    • 4.4k Life, but...
    • 59/17 attack/spell block
    • Phase Acrobatics
    • The new Arctic Armour that freezes everyone that hits you, for 0% mana reserved (chest piece)
    • Ghost Shrouds
    • Respectable Shaper damage (~8 aps, 200k arc average hit), nothing too fancy but can probably be improved upon.

I was wondering if anyone else tried something with this weapon, because it looks kind of OP!

Id love to hear your opinions on this, any theorycrafting is welcome! Very basic PoB is here: https://pastebin.com/AK2hYm4Q

    Cheers!

Help with melee dual wielding build

    Posted: 24 Sep 2020 07:17 PM PDT

I tried the game 7 months ago, got overwelmed and quit. Now I'm back again to try once more lol

I want to make a character that's a melee dual wielder. Something that's a little more focused on damage. And something that's ok leveling up and viable endgame.

I don't like builds where you do only one thing all the time (like whirlwind spinning all the time and nothing else)

What are my options? If more info is needed just let me know and i'll add.

    Thanks for any help.

Looking for some "melee" build advice.

    Posted: 24 Sep 2020 02:36 PM PDT

Hey, my starter didn't work out too well (Hexblast), so I'm planning tomorrow to roll a new character. I want probably something "melee" so I have leech and I can avoid ton of fuckery related to casters.

So I have in mind maybe: dual Paradoxica (just an idea), Champion, impale, smth crit.

The question is about which skill to build on. I sadly barely played couple of leagues so I'm bit outdated, and the skill I'm choosing from would be:

    • Splitting Steel

    • Lancing Steel

    • Earthshatter (obviously not Paradoxica here)

    • Perforate

    • <your suggestion>?

So basically looking for quick run down of pros and cons. Will be using it as all-round character so quite balanced for clear speed and single target. Also ideally the less button piano - the better, which is why I have my doubts about Earthshatter as it's best with warcries (multi-setup). I've seen few streamers ditching Splitting Steel - which also have me some doubts about the skill.

So yeah some advice based on what I've said would be very helpful.

Voltaxic Phantasmal Spark - is this oldie back on the menu?

    Posted: 24 Sep 2020 01:11 PM PDT

With the new Phantasmal Spark, we can get full Lightning -> Chaos conversion. Spark hits very fast, so I was wondering if I would finally be able to play Voltaxic Spark again?

Has anyone theorycrafted something like this that they would be willing to share?

    Endgame all content build choice

    Posted: 24 Sep 2020 03:16 PM PDT

    Hey there,

I am trying to decide which build between Earthshatter Champ and Lacerate Max Block Glad would be better overall. Mapping speed isn't a major concern but I am looking for something quite tanky but still has the damage to do all content. Are there much of a difference in dmg or defence between the 2?

Trying to become True Galaxy Brain (Chaos Inoculation & Eldritch Battery)

    Posted: 24 Sep 2020 08:23 PM PDT

Extremely new to the game, only about 60 hours in and level 35 on my highest character. Just started Heist and had either the dumbest or smartest idea I've had in my life: 1 HP build as Witch.

The original idea was to use The Agnostic instead of Eldritch Battery, but then I realized this might have actual potential use outside of a torture method.

Is there any possible way to make this actually work? My first thoughts are to do one of the following, but I'm not sure how to make them work:

    A) Minions. If they aren't attacking you, you don't take damage. Necromantic Aegis is looking good in this route. I have the most hope for this idea, but option B is pretty good too.

    B) Screw survival, just max out Mana and do ungodly expensive attacks! A good offense is a good defense. Pain Attunement + Coward's Legacy screams a good idea for this one. Ghost Reaver + Vaal Pact? Zealot's Oath? If you go for this, having high Energy Shield is somewhat useful, so Arcane Vision would be pretty good, I think? Cast on Death probably wouldn't hurt here. This is whole section my other main hope.

    C) Super evasion. Considering Witch doesn't have much for Evasion, though, it's seeming unlikely to work. Maybe as a Shadow? Acrobatics is looking HOT if this is the move.

    D) Teleportation. Can't hit what you can't aim at. Until you accidentally teleport into a duration AoE attack and die instantly due to a slight breeze.

What are some ideas to make these two Keystones viable together?
