Showerthought: looting takes more skill and precision than killing monsters Posted: 23 Nov 2020 10:18 AM PST Most of my mental and physical effort in this game goes into picking up loot. Sometimes it's timed (delirium), other times I just don't want to take forever. It requires quick & precise positioning of the mouse. Whereas killing monsters at most requires to aim the character towards monsters and press a button until they die. Hosting free Private League w Ziz Gauntlet settings Posted: 23 Nov 2020 10:21 AM PST Hello exiles! Tomorrow (11/24) I will be starting a private league with identical settings to the Zizarian gauntlet. I was unable to participate (late to the party and got waitlisted) and would like to give those settings a shot. It's only $12 to start one so I'll pay the fee. We have 11 days until Mayhem starts so that's just enough time to squeeze in a 10-day league! Looks like we get 10 player slots free so I have 9 open spots for whomever is interested in playing. Posted: 22 Nov 2020 10:55 PM PST My point here is that there are some old and mechanically interesting skills, such as storm call, that REALLY just need some major numbers love. I tend to use fireball as my basis of comparison for spell DPS because it is just such a simple obvious spell. If something is similar in DPS to fireball, it's passable. If it's much better or much worse than fireball, then it's strong or weak, respectively. Lightning tendrils, despite being memed on for how bad it is, is actually only 16 base dps lower than fireball, making it pretty average. Of course it has the awful mechanical side of having a tiny base radius and requiring long channel times to achieve the maximum dps with stronger pulses. Storm call, which is actually somewhat interesting and unique mechanically, has only 2/3rds the base dps of lightning tendrils. That is absolutely terrible and makes playing the skill a choice of straight up gimping yourself. I think that's a shame for such an interesting skill. There are so many skills that have been dead for so long that could be brought to life with some very easy numerical changes. It seems like the sort of thing that could easily be kept up to date by one person with 20 minutes of work a day just tweaking the old outdated numbers on skills, so it's kind of mind boggling that so many things stay in such a terrible state for so long. submitted by /u/Zambash [link] [comments]
