    Beginner help

    Posted: 02 Jul 2021 06:32 PM PDT

Hey guys, been loving the game so far. My only main gripe is the difficulty in finding guides for total newbies to the game.

For example I've found plenty of cool guides that conver many things, but a lot seem to not cover the levelling part well. Very few even cover what gems to use while leveling and only focus on endgame setups.

Does anyone have any suggested guides for someone who needs an eli5 for poe?

I'm keen on shadow or ranger builds if you have any ideas

Is MI SRS best way to level minions?

    Posted: 02 Jul 2021 05:06 AM PDT

I'm tweaking potential minion starter tree and was wondering if MI SRS is the strongest leveling for minions and then drop it when starting maps.

Edit: Should've added that I'm planning on playing SSF so I can't buy stuff

    Experienced player looking for recommendations

    Posted: 02 Jul 2021 06:35 PM PDT

Currently I'm playing a great build -Crit Storm Brand Inquisitor, LL (petrified blood, prism guardian), cold/lightning (1 CoB ring), HoI and HoT for clear, and 9 total auras/heralds. It's tanky, clears fast, kills bosses, freezes/shocks, has cool herald effects... it does it all and feels great -- ailment immune, and flexible on gear and flasks. It's based on something Balormage put out on Youtube. I probably won't find a better build this league for me, although it's not super OP (like cold bv last league) or anything.

That said... I want to try something new but I cannot find anything that feels right -- solid damage and clear, tanky via many layers, and relatively smooth style (no warcry stacking). I prefer spells, like having elemental immunity (inquis, pathfinder, golemancer, raider), but can't seem to find something that seems right.

    Any ideas? :) Thanks!!

    Some other stuff I like/d:

Indigon Cold BV pathfinder with flask macro felt great until the nerf, obviously.

I played a nice inquisitor nature's patience aegis aurora build (based on a great ThatsRealNeato video) with storm burst (preferred it to incinerate) that was pretty darn tanky and dealt a ton of damage (could stand still in ultimatums and kill everything without dying, although moving for volatiles was good), but channeling still feels clunky.

I liked Dang's Hollow Palm Raider infernal blow raider last season because it was fast, cleared nicely, felt good, etc., although it was too light on defense for a league-end build.

I played elementalist EH wander last season with golem buffs, but I feel like the ceiling was low on that despite it being pretty solid.

I even enjoyed a Venom Gyre pathfinder way back before the poison (claw 100% more dmg) nerf, as well as a pestilent strike PF with max block and purity of X abuse (before nerf) -- these were borderline, but pathfinder flask abuse, decent poison, and some cluster shenanigans made them good enough.

Help with building around Wings Of Entropy

    Posted: 02 Jul 2021 10:22 AM PDT

First off, I'm not very good at the game. I have ~200h, half of which spent dilly-dallying in the early days of the game and I only came back to it recently. Right now I'm running a bleed-deadeye and doing well with maps, but I wanted to try something new after finding a vertain item.

As you can gleam from the title, said item is Wings of Entropy. Arguably not a great unique item, which pretty much noone uses (you can get a full 6-Link for a whopping 15-20C), but it has a couple fun and well... unique mechanics involved.

I'm currently trying out a Gladiator, putting points in axe-damage and dual-wielding as well as block chance as a secondary defensive layer besides armour. A PoB is not included since I'm still in the very early stages of levelling and theorycrafting. At the moment my main damage skill is Perforate, but I'll maybe swap to Molten Strike given that Wings of Entropy deals additional fire damage already (so maybe leaning into scaling that wouldn't be a bad idea?). But maybe scaling with chaos damage or only focusing on the physical damage alone would be more worthwhile, I don't know yet.

Obviously I don't expect anyone to come up with the build for me, but maybe you have a hint or idea (or maybe you're interested in trying out janky weapons as well)? I'd appreciate any help and either way, I hope you'll have a great day!

    Raider suggestions?

    Posted: 02 Jul 2021 08:27 PM PDT

I learned in 3.13 that I can't play this game without the Raider permanent phasing/onslaught speed buffs any more. I ran Lightning Strike this league with half cold conversion for Trinity. Speed was there, clear was fine, but boss damage was weak enough that I'd get wrecked by Conquerors.

I get that patch notes may wreck all of this, and that's fine. I also get that I could just go look at PoE Ninja, but I honestly don't expect to have the time to get above ~90 in 3.15, and PoE Ninja is no help at that level.

What I'm looking for is suggestions for a skill or two to use with that Raider phasing/onslaught/evasion basic idea. Elemental would be preferred to use the local exposure, especially cold for freeze. I'm just not sure what skills are worth trying to build toward in this context - I thought LS would be perfect, and it was just okay. I don't mind type, i.e. spells, attacks, whatever, just as long as it uses those Raider nodes.

    Thanks in advance.

Why do people hate PoE vault so much?

    Posted: 02 Jul 2021 01:55 PM PDT

My first build was from that site (impale cyclone champion). Got me through the game with no issues at all. Looking back on it it was well written and the website was kinda cool. On this subreddit, official PoE subreddit and PoE discord, anytime PoE vault is mentioned, a bunch of people come to say the site is bad. Why is it bad?

Edit: I visited the site but this time I turned off AdBlock. Yeah fuck that I see where the hate comes from.

Is Elemental Hit Raider a good league starter?

    Posted: 02 Jul 2021 06:24 PM PDT

As title states, I am looking to league start Ele Hit Raider next league. I like the idea of a build that can continually grow with investment. I also like the zoom zoom nature of raider.

The downside I see is needing 2x 6-links (clear and single target?).

What is the difference between ballista and regular bow ele hit? Would ballista be easier to start?

What roadblocks will I hit trying to league start this build? Am I going to get stuck in white maps for a week trying to farm junk currency to be able to progress?

Looking to start a long term SSF standard project, looking for builds

    Posted: 02 Jul 2021 08:56 AM PDT

so for context, I've been playing POE for a long time, about 2000 hours, but only in SC trade league. Recently I've been playing grim dawn and I've been loving the SSF nature of the game, so I thought I might as well try it in POE.

In terms of builds, Is this a good resource? https://www.poe-vault.com/guides/ssf-builds-for-path-of-exile

I heard that the site recently got better, so I might give it a try. I'm thinking of going with poison BB/BF or BV Poison, mainly cause I know obliteration's are easy to farm

    A little better

    Posted: 02 Jul 2021 01:24 PM PDT

Hey guys, my earlier post was my concerns with hp. I am getting that under control. My question now is I have a 6l femur of the saints. Would I be better off getting a convoking wand and shield to add some levels to my gems and the trigger spell crafted option? I only have little over 2ex so I can't get one of the top tier ones. Just a random thought I had. I have abandoned my previous guide and going to try to do von vicktons medium build. He recommends the wand/shield combo but just wasn't sure it's worth breaking myself over?

Skele mage necro is my build.

New melee skill 3.15 for CoC?

    Posted: 02 Jul 2021 08:11 AM PDT

Am I the only one thinking this? :) Looks like its hitting multiple times, works on itself once you send it off, somehow reminded me of Frozen orb from D2 :D

Anyhow looks cool but well have to see. If it drops blades for BB pretty cool. Other option make it proc a Lot of Stuff 1 cast at a time!

    Poison BF BB upgrade path

    Posted: 02 Jul 2021 06:11 AM PDT

Hi guys, I'm planning to league start BF BB assassin. I know it's a solid build (unless nerfs) and I know how it works but I'm not sure what's a good upgrade path.

There's cold iron points for bossing, dot multi jewels, gloves and hunter amulet.

What am I missing? I know medium clusters are good, but what large would I use, if any? Also any notable uniques besides obliterations?

Question: Is there a way to see where the charges are from in POB?

    Posted: 01 Jul 2021 09:51 PM PDT

I was trying to follow a build, and i count the charges from its tree and item and the number of charges i got was different from the number it stated under combat buffs.

Is there a way to see where all those charges(frenzy/power/endurance) from in POB? I know u can see how many charges u have under combat buff, but can u see what the sources are?

    How are they getting berserk?

    Posted: 01 Jul 2021 08:51 PM PDT

How are people generating rage with champs? I'm looking at lancing steel champs in ninja who are using berserk but I see no way of them generating rage. No timeless jewel. No rage support. What am missing?

    Best all-around COC build?

    Posted: 02 Jul 2021 06:30 AM PDT

Which version of CoC do people think is best all around at this stage of the league? I am going to roll one last build this weekend and I'm leaning towards Indigon/Scion/Ice Spear version, but open to suggestions. Budget around 50ex-ish. I've done the pure glass cannon Assassin versions but felt they were too rippy for my taste, especially against bosses. The Assassin w/ shield/CI/glancing blows was more to my liking as an example. Open to any variations on the build. Ass/Scion/Inq/PF/whatever

Out of loop since mid Ritual, just starting Ultimatum. Lf a current meta build with somewhat easier progression.

    Posted: 02 Jul 2021 02:34 AM PDT

Due to irl stuff I had no time for poe, but now looks like I can put a good 150h in until league ends.

Primary goal would be challenges, 24 probably realistic. I guess trade is already dead but I think I can scrape together 30-40ish ex. Havent even had time to look at ninja/pob and stuff. Any recommendation would be much appreciated! :)

    Are guides charge generation consistent?

    Posted: 02 Jul 2021 12:09 AM PDT

I was looking at various discharge builds and noticed there's a lot of "on kill", "chance to instead gain max charges", and in general a lot of janky generation stacking to overpower discharge consumption.
My question is: do these builds find themselves do weak discharges or even not having any to cast (especially woth endless misery)? What about bossing?
Also how would a discharge leaguestarter level with it's weird tree?

Static Strike in 3.14 - what worked, what didn't?

    Posted: 01 Jul 2021 05:37 PM PDT

It's been a handful of leagues since the rework, and the second league since the duration increase. How's the skill feeling?

Trawling POE Ninja and filtering out those using the skill for utility (Summon Holy Relic, Vaal Lightning Strike et al), the majority seem to be using the Petrified Blood/Bloodthirst combo with something that does well with the flat damage (Voidforge, Pillar of the Caged God) and Trinity support, though there's one full cold conversion Raider. Intimidating Cry for double damage is popular, Shockwave suppory seems to have fallen out of favour, and there's not the gaggle of Korean Fulcrum reverse-chill Elementalists there were in 3.13.

Doomfletch LL Burning Arrow vs. Fireburst Ignite for a League Starter

    Posted: 01 Jul 2021 11:20 PM PDT

Tossing up between these 2 builds assuming they don't get nerfed. Whipped up a PoB for each with similar budget I'm comfortable with achieving for a starter:

    Burning Arrow: https://pastebin.com/dGXnvKFT

    Fire Burst: https://pastebin.com/Y6H855gt

Both seem to have roughly similar damage and tank ability, but was wondering if anybody else has some experience with this. Any feedback would be great, thanks!

BA Pros: Higher damage at max stacks + vaal BA, primal aegis, golems buffs, ailment/stun immunity, ignite chaining with Berek's, don't have to wait for Fire Burst cooldown, corrupted soul for extra EHP, less resistances required from rares

Fire Burst Pros: Don't have to use LL/petrified blood, can mostly clear maps as a walking simulator, can easily run chainbreaker + berserk, less ramp up time for max boss damage, blind and culling, steelskin

Looking for Summoner build to scale from start to finish of league

    Posted: 01 Jul 2021 05:24 PM PDT

I have been playing on and off since the beginning of this game. I quit for a significant portion of time after about a year and came back in Legion I think it was?(The league with the purple pillar). I have been playing every league since then and to be honest, the only time I was really successful was last league when Harvest was "tuned". Yes I was pissed when I found out it was getting nerfed because it artificially allowed me to feel some sense of accomplishment even if it was from this crutch.

I don't know a lot about how to craft, how to make money or even how to level a build. This league I managed to get 9 Exalts but if I am being honest it came from farming Ultimatums and selling trash for 20 chaos or less per piece.

This means I am looking for a guide that will hold my hand through all of that. I want to kill every boss I can figure out how to get to and fill my atlas for the first time ever.

Full disclosure: I didn't come here first and have done plenty of searching on my own for this guide but I'm just not seeing it.

I want this to be the last league that I need to be handheld like this, it's just not fun feeling lost the whole damn league and so I want something easy to level, easy to play with the ability to scale it so I can use these qualities to focus on doing what I should have done years ago...learn how to play this damn game. I will play only this build for this entire league and will focus on learning how to craft, level, make currency etc. instead of bouncing from one OP build to the next never really getting any of them to any real potential.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Splitting/Lancing steel Starter in SSF?

    Posted: 01 Jul 2021 04:35 PM PDT

Hi, Recently I've been playing with steel skills and like the playstyle, but was wondering how viable it is to run in SSF, especially as a starter. Would the levelling/upgrade process be relatively smooth, or would it hit a wall in early/mid maps without certain uniques or hard to craft weapons?, Probably running champ also like most other builds. Thanks

    Posted: 01 Jul 2021 10:48 PM PDT

Mahuxoxuhxtl Doryani's fist Berserker - huge aoe

    BA Elementalist

    Int stack Assassin

    Poet pen BF/BB Assassin

    ED/C Trickster

Ice Shot Deadeye - was really fun with Voidfletcher
