GGG, let me upgrade 4 stash tabs into a quad tab

    Posted: 21 Aug 2021 03:09 AM PDT

I bought loads of stash tabs back before quad tabs existed, outside of special tabs I only want to use quad tabs. Just like you can pay to upgrade a regular tab to a premium tab, let me upgrade 4 tabs into a quad tab, that would make my experience soo much better

[honest feedback] Strike skills need some love!

    Posted: 21 Aug 2021 07:28 AM PDT

It is the time of the league when I love to experiment with stuff, testing different interactions and gameplay mechanics.

I love strike skills. They feel like a "true" melee and give me a flashback to d2 Javazons, Smiters and similar "in the enemy face" aRPG concepts which I absolutely LOVE to play and emulate in every game I play. That being said, I think that Strike skills in PoE are pretty underpowered vs other concepts. I'll name few things which I noticed..

    • DPS - the numbers seems decently tuned for mapping, but lack the single target damage (even with switching Ancestral Call AND Melee Splash with some DPS support). Only the skills with Vaal variant (VDS, VLS) and Berserk utility can be used for effective bossing without gem switching.
    • Ancestral call has a fatal flaw, and that is it "nearby" range is very small. It just plain needs a RANGE increase. I tested Flicker, Double Strike, Molten Strike and Wild/Elemental strike with two-handed Axe - there is literally no differnce between having 3 additional neraby enemy and 6 additional neraby enemy Ancestral Call. If the pack is condensed, they all get to be reached and killed and if the pack is just a little bit spread - even 5-6 ancestral calls don't reach the monsters on the "outside". This is very underwhelming since ancestrall call +strike is very expensive mod (only 1 on tree, 2-3 on gem and 1-2 on gloves). Ancestrall Call would need its "nearby" range increased by at least 50% if not double so the investment into Ancestrall calls make sense and Ancestall Call actually hits the enemies which are not super close to the character - otherwise they are 100% wasted.
    • Melee Splash utility - the only portion of strike skills which seems to be in good form both mechanically and DPS wise, as it allows a consistent damage output (overlap on monsters in pack) with 2+ Ancestral Calls. It is basically useless for boss damage so I would suggest a little buff in form of mechanical change (ie. if melee splash does no damage to enemies other than the target, it damage empowers next strike by the same amount or % more or something like that).

Overall, the true non-AoE melee skills are in ackward spot and would definitely need some love in future patches.

    Just my 2 cents.

ps. GGG, you gave us a Hammerdin, but Javazon and/or Smiter when? :)

Incursion Analysis, updated for passives. Conclusion: Do all incursions.

    Posted: 21 Aug 2021 09:01 AM PDT

Tldr: With atlas passives in Glennach Cairns enabled, it is best to do every incursion in every map (no skipping) in order to maximize the likelihood of receiving a t3 Corruption Chamber, Locus of Corruption. Below is a brief summary of my process that led to this conclusion; click the link at the bottom to see my full discussion, analysis, and code.

Previous analysis has been done on different Alva strategies as well as the impact of atlas passives: https://www.reddit.com/r/pathofexile/comments/glatzb/simulating_alva_strategies_conclusion_skipping/ https://www.reddit.com/r/pathofexile/comments/kwtx8c/analysis_of_temple_of_atzoatl_and_the_impact_of/ but I could not find any analysis of the impact of these powerful atlas passives on strategic implications. In addition, both of these previous analyses did not factor in the Shrine of Empowerment / Temple Nexus in attempts to maximize rewards.

My analysis attempts to factor in these variables, optimizing for the maximum likelihood of receiving a tier 3 corruption chamber, or Locus of Corruption. Defining strategies, using the definitions from u/foundashoe's post:

Strategy 1: No skipping, just choose/upgrade corruption room when it's offered

Strategy 2: If a corruption room is offered first in the map, skip the rest of the map

First, I tried to replicate the results for using no passives, and I received the same conclusion: Strategy 2 is superior by a couple of maps (~35 -> 33 maps per double corruption). Updating for use of the Shrine of Empowerment, Strategy 2 is still superior, but its advantage is smaller:

    Strategy 1: 5.977 +- 0.029 temples, 23.91 +- 0.12 maps

    Strategy 2: 5.502 +- 0.023 temples, 23.55 +- 0.10 maps

Accounting for both Atlas Passives and the Shrine of Empowerment, though, the results are reversed:

    Strategy 1: 2.575 +- 0.007 temples, 10.30 +- 0.03 maps

    Strategy 2: 2.498 +- 0.007 temples, 10.51 +- 0.03 maps

It is now better to do every incursion in every map, rather than skip the rest after seeing a corruption chamber first. I also tried multiple other strategies that I thought would improve the odds, but they were all negligible in difference to Strategy 1. Most importantly, try to minimize the use of Stones of Passage so that a tier 1 or tier 2 Shrine of Empowerment has the best odds possible in hitting the desired room. My analysis does not include decisions regarding which doors to open; all of these results approximate a 50% chance of a tier 1 shrine upgrading an adjacent corruption chamber and a 100% chance of a tier 2 shrine/sanctum upgrading an adjacent corruption chamber, since that's mostly what I've experienced in my gameplay.

Here are the links to my full discussion, analysis, and code. This is only the second time I've ever coded anything in Python, so any and all feedback and commentary is greatly appreciated. The ipynb has a "temple simulator" at the bottom that I used for testing, if you'd like to see results of temples one at a time using different strategies and settings; it's surprisingly cathartic. Thank you!

Statistic about 80+ Logbooks! Are they still profitable?

    Posted: 21 Aug 2021 09:36 AM PDT

    Hey Reddit,

i know some people already finished with the league. However their might be some people who actually want to go for 40 challenges and 125 logbooks 80+ or maybe just want to farm some currency. I am playing a Forbiden Rite Totem Charakter with 80ex gear and arround 15+m dps and did track my results for 60 of them.

I bought these logbooks with Live Search for a maximum of 45c each. I used Blessed Orbs to role the implicit to above avarage, preferably anything that has impact on the explosives (range, amount, area).

For the clear, i did not orientate myself on Fyregrass, who uses MS Paint (has a video about it). I tried it a few times, but it didnt felt smooth and the result wasnt feelable higher. I just tried to find a route with a lot of usefull chests and remnants, preferably remnants first , chest second and boss last. I just looked at the map for a few seconds and started placing pretty much instantly. Only reason for replacement are accidently "immunity to chaos Damage"-remnants. I actually needed arround 10min per Logbook, however i am a relativly new player and u can do it definitly faster.

My calculations should be low calculated, because i mainly include stuff with a total value >20c or a single value >10c. I summerized my results in a spreadsheet.
    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1sATIz6ixaMXfJVaKTrriBXsFzHllYaN5DdY_LXZCC2Y/edit#gid=0

    Result
It was extremly profitable for me. I payed 2800 Chaos total for logbooks and rerolls and earned 8300 chaos worth of valuable stuff. Makes a total profit of 5500 chaos, that is arround 90 chaos per Logbook, or 540 chaos per hour. Low value scarabs, incubaters, uniques, div cards ... that are not worth atleast 20c together are not included and would add up for another 1500 chaos.

I got insprired from Fyregrass, who did a video about 6ex per hour with low level logbooks, however i couldnt reproduce the 6ex myself, instead higher logbooks felt more profitable so i wanted to make a statistic about them. This is my result, i hope u can use it somehow to achieve your goal for the league!

If GGG are to nerf harvest again I wouldn't mind if they deleted it instead

    Posted: 20 Aug 2021 02:10 PM PDT

I was watching Ziz' TLDW for the recent interview with Chris and from Zizaran's paraphrasing it appeared to me that GGG may at some point go even harder on harvest.

It was (and, to some extent, is) strong due to its uniqueness in comparison to other crafting methods which are quite sad. If you guys gonna make another interesting mechanic into complete trash, you might as well just remove it from the game. I don't think fossils at their current state will be missed much. I don't think essences at their current state will be missed much. I don't think if harvest became as bad as these two it would be missed much.

First mirror ever, looking for advice how to proceed

    Posted: 21 Aug 2021 01:28 PM PDT

TL;DR: Just got a mirror. Spend on ele hit raider or reroll? I'm on SC Trade league.

Situation I'm very excited as I just found my first mirror in SC trade league. This is my 5th league and I have about 1,000 hours in the game. I think this puts me in a super lucky category. I'm not really sure how I should spend the money, or what it's really worth. This post is probably mostly so I can just let people know how excited I am. But I also have never handled this much money in POE before so I'm looking for any input on that.

Some context: I have a lvl 90 archmage heirophant that I wasn't having that much fun playing. After investing ~12ex I was still struggling to clear like T12+ red maps without dying. I don't think I want to spend anything on this one.

Since bailing on the archmage I now have a lvl 87 ele hit raider which I'm having tons of fun with. I'm considering spending maybe 20ex here and seeing how that feels. If I like it, maybe put in a HH and get some swap gear for bossing vs mapping. Something like that sound reasonable?

Alternatively I could re-roll something that scales better, or try to have multiple characters for mapping/bossing. I know most-fun-wins and in the end I'll do whatever I want. I'm just looking for ideas since I'm feeling overwhelmed.

Thanks for reading. Any and all input is much appreciated.
