Animated Guardian needs to have dedicated UI and more QoL

    Posted: 10 Sep 2021 06:41 AM PDT

This skill needs a UI for players to check what items the AG has and can easily change it. They literally had that for Heist NPCs, why don't they just give it to AG?

It's crazy that we still need to do blind pick up for the AG, when even Diablo 2 had a separate UI for mercenaries.

Also, if they give it a UI then the skill active can be make into a toggle to turn on and off the AG in dangerous maps instead of having to remove the gem and put it back from equipment like a savage.

    Holy Crap!

    Posted: 10 Sep 2021 09:44 AM PDT

So I stated this game the other day after reading some reviews and hearing how amazing it is. When I first logged in my first character I couldn't understand why so many people love this game so much. For the first hour or two I was really not enjoying myself and was about to just put the game away and move on. I am so glad that I just kept to it because as of now this is the most enjoyment I've had from a game in what seems like a lifetime. My only regret is I've gone so long without knowing how truly wonderful this game is and wasted so many hours playing other games that could've been spent on this one. Absolutely fantastic game!

    Free MTX from GGG

MTX Feedback: We should be able to four-way split the cost of the Necrolord bundle so me and the boys can each take one suit and run the campaign as Wraeclast Power Rangers.

    Posted: 10 Sep 2021 07:22 AM PDT

I'm honestly stunned I didn't find this suggested when I searched the subreddit. I can't wear all four at once but I could see myself pitching in with 3 friends for amusing, costume-coordinated adventuring.

Would also promote social/party play in an online game that's often played alone. There is no downside let's go.

Edit: Ethercraft skins would also be a good candidate for this split-and-share treatment. Especially with those sweet new EC sea turtles they put out today.

My biggest issue with POE's power progression is how entangled and intertwined all my gear pieces are.

    Posted: 09 Sep 2021 02:12 PM PDT

It just makes the progression so jumpy and erratic. If I want to craft some GG amulet I have to budget for the inevitable upgrading or side grading of a couple other gear pieces. Its never "Hell yeah, finally farmed my headhunter. Time to slap this bad boy on and zoom". Its always "lets spend an hour gear shopping and playing gear jenga because my belt was literally the only thing holding this build together". Its the kind of thing that definitely gets easier and smoother with time and experience, but is still always annoying. My 10ex helmet upgrade is realistically going to cost me 13ex depending on how I need to de-krangle my resists and stat rolls. Sometimes I need to replace gear, sometimes I need to overpay for an item with super specific rolls.

For me it always leads to me neglecting gear upgrades until all the simple upgrades are done. I constantly end up with crazy clusters, awakened gems, min maxed uniques..... and the same 10c good enough life roll rares I bought a month ago. Then I will save up a massive pile of exalts and basically re-gear all at once. Been playing Last Epoch the past week and have really enjoyed the power curve. The steady process of finding a good base, crafting something that is marginally better than what you have, and repeating. I feel like I am improving alongside the power level of the content, instead of making giant leaps and then bulldozing until the next wall.

Appreciation post. GGG, this fight was SO COOL.

    Posted: 10 Sep 2021 01:42 PM PDT

I can't describe how thrilled I was during this fight with Olroth. Attacks telegraphed, a lot of stuff to dodge, phases which required detonating specific things in order to weaken the boss, breathtaking arena. 10/10

Vorana and Uthred are my second favourites. Brilliant arenas and boss movements! Only Medved could use some lifting, because he only jumps around.

Currently I'm at 35/36 challenges. Only remains to Defeat Medved while poisoned to get that sick portal.

Dialogues are top quality, listened to every single one.

Holy shit, I love this league.

Discussion on release timing of Hardmode

    Posted: 10 Sep 2021 01:42 PM PDT

Let me preface this with the fact that this post is completely biased on my personal preferences and it will be very visible in the post. This is the perspective of someone who wants to play Hardmode but does not want to miss out on the simply and QoL of playing softcore trade and endgame accessibility(for new content which might not go core).

And yes before who call it out, I do, Yes I do want to have my cake and eat it too.

Would it make sense to postpone/prepone the release timing of Hardmode to not coincide with league launch?

My personal thoughts on why I propose this:

    • I am super excited for Hardmode and have multiple friends who I looking forward to playing with on it, talking with them about it kind of spurred this post.
    • I am a softcore trade player and I play leagues with the intent of "beating" previous core challenges (maven, sirus, UE etc) with a build and whatever new end game arrives.
    • I personally don't believe I would be able to experience the league to the fullest while in Hardmode, likely not even reach any of these bosses, forget collecting 300-400 splinters for the next league end boss(es) (or whatever RNG/grind it will bring).
    • Delaying the two different launches would allow me time to experience both the worlds, I would have enough time to "finish up" on the league in trade. I usually stop playing around the 4-6 week mark of a league (depends on much there is to do + availability from work + lack of other time-sinks). I do not enjoy the "extreme" endgame grinds like 100% deli/ deep delve etc. So once I beat maven/feared etc. I am effectively done with the league. I am sure there are several people who have a similar mindset, be it with 36 challenges or other self imposed challenges.
    • If the Hardmode launched around the 5-6 week mark and also ran for 12/13 weeks (basically till mid of next league), it would allow users who want to try out both of these EXTREMELY different ecosystems without the FOMO (Fear of missing out), I am sure there will be content in hardmode which will be significantly harder to reach than compared to softcore trade, and if these don't go core, these players would be giving on their chance to experience it, which many may not see as worth it.

    PROs:

    • Players get to experience both the play styles and pick what they prefer or possibly continue on both without losing out on the other.
    • Players who are are the 36/40 or 40/40 hunters can still get these and have a chance to play the new mode. (Yes I understand that these will exist in hardmode too but it will a lot harder when gear is scuffed back and you are struggling to res cap yourself).
    • More players likely to try out hardmode.
    • Users can switch between playing fresh economies as early as 6 weeks instead of 12 ( IF they choose to do so).
    • Longer player retention for GGG, most leagues die out by week 8, at least softcore trade where the economy gets to a weird state of moving but not really. Traders rarely replying and prices are all of over the place due to market saturation (too many reaching endgame, not even buyers) and we start seeing drop in player numbers.
    • One of the player base gets all the QoL/first few weeks of league issue fixes from the start due to starting late. (Trade off for not getting the early access).
    • Double supporter packs(?). Before you shoot me down, this makes sense, this would allow GGG to gauge how many people are enjoying the mode enough to pay for it. This would let them make better decisions on if they should allocate resources to support the mode further if there is enough demand. PS: Bex/Chris, if you are reading this, I will forward my paypal address later ;)

    CONs:

    • Hardmode Only players will have to wait an extra few weeks to start the league. (If its postponed not pre-poned else vice versa). Will likely cause issues within the community, probably the biggest reason to not do this.
    • The challenge of "discovery" is divided within the player base, one of them would have explored the league completely before the other has had a chance to start. This may not be fun for many players.
    • Even though player retention for Path of Exile as while may go up, the player retention for the league itself might drop faster. If you know a new league is starting in 5 days on the other mode, you are less likely to grind in the current one. Do take note, this only applies to players who will play BOTH modes, which may not be a big chunk of the population.
    • Player burnout rates increase, causing overall drop in player numbers. It has been stated by GGG before that the reason they don't do as many "Flashback event" etc at end of leagues is because even though it spikes player numbers temporarily it hurts it in the future leagues. If anyone remembers the source, please cite this in the comments, I am sure this was on an interview/Q&A, I am going to assume Baeclast but do not remember which one. This was after synthesis league or a bit later.
    • Switching between the two modes can be a jarring experience for many players due to having to adapt to a very different playstyle, or even interactions between mechanics might not work the same way (if it is to be used as a PTR to test new mechanical changes).
    • Early starter league player = Beta tester memes intensifies. (Would actually make sense for Hardmode to start first then?)

What do you guys think of this? I think its a bad idea and likely won't happen. But its still has legitimate benefits to it from the way I see it.
