Comprehensive Guide to Defenses Posted: 31 Jan 2022 02:38 AM PST Hey All, I've updated my guide to defenses in PoE. It covers topics like defensive layering, maximizing investment, discusses various layers, etc. Warning, this is over an hour long, but I feel like it's worth it if you need an introduction to these basics. The video is timestamped if you want to skip to specific sections. I do think some intermediate or advanced players can pick up tidbits as well, especially with respect to conceptualizing the value of defensive investment properly. Anyway, without further ado, here's the guide: [link] [comments]

Here Are Some Relaxing, Stress-Free, 1-Button, SSF Builds for 3.17's Archnemesis! Posted: 30 Jan 2022 07:59 PM PST My Guides and Filters: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2606288 Hey, Everyone! I hope you enjoyed the 3.17 league reveal! CRAZY COOL!. If you're still looking for a build, and like Zombies or Righteous Fire, I have a guide for each you may enjoy :-). My guide style revolves around SSF play. So I design these builds to get everything they need from their gems and passive tree. The idea is that you're not dependent on any specific gear or mods to make the build function efficiently (outside of health and resists). (Obviously, crap gear clears crap content and great gear clears great content. My builds just give you lots of freedom along the way.) To state the obvious, if you don't play SSF or if you have a faster playstyle than I do, because the builds don't "require" any specific gear, you can modify the builds easily to fit your style. My filters follow the same mentality. They revolve around the SSF experience and give you the best of what you want, as the game progresses, without too much clutter. (I've gone through every single item in the game and decided how and when I want every version of that item to be displayed or hidden.) Anyway, these are just some options for you. Within the link above, there's a section of more builds that I like but I don't make guides for. I'll update them to 3.17 as the league moves on. I treat them pretty casually. I've had so much fun with Path of Exile over the years that I have a podcast called Forever Exiled that's 99% PoE! My co-host Tagz and I have had an awesome time growing it over the last couple of years and have put out 121 episodes so far. If you like a laid-back chat about Path on a weekly basis, then give our latest episode a listen and see what you think. Pretend we're all at the bar chatting or something. It's cool. We're not for everyone, of course, no one is. But a while ago we moved into the top 10% of most-listened-to podcasts in the world! Crazy, eh!? No matter which build(s) you play this league, or content you enjoy listening to, I hope you have an awesome 3.17! I can't wait to experience it and see how it flows! Have fun folks! (And on a side note, remember that it's just a game, eh? ;-) ENJOY IT!) Wrecker [link] [comments]
Your hipster nonsense league starters? Posted: 31 Jan 2022 03:17 AM PST I make at least one of these posts each league, so bloody have at it, give me your best hipster nonsense for this league! My two cents comes in the form an impale bow build using the Steelworm quiver. [link] [comments]
Druggery Pathfinder: World's best drinking buddy. Posted: 31 Jan 2022 12:31 AM PST Disclaimer: This build is completely untested, hence the theory tag. All I have to go off of, is what the wiki says about life flasks not being removed on full life. I unfortunately don't have the time, resources (see: PoE friends,) or items to test out to what extent this build does, or does not function. If everything works the way I think it does, this is easily one of the most broken support builds out there, but I am not confident on all of the mechanics. Take everything in here with a grain of salt. I'm not trying to sell anyone on the build itself, just see if anyone has any insight, or could test some of this. This is a support pathfinder that focuses on life/es recovery and magic find with supplementary support features. Without further delays, here is the PoB: https://pastebin.com/bnq4ciB4 This build grants your party:
Again, -if- everything works as intended. Here is the plan:The Druggery unique belt makes all life recovery from flasks apply to nearby allies instead of you. We have life flask recovery as far as it can go. The Druggery has a unique quirk: Life flasks that normally stop working at full health are not removed at full life. Meaning, our life-flasks cannot be interrupted by reaching maximum health, and with some investment, we can get 100% uptime. By using petrified blood, we can ensure we're at low life at all times for a massive 130% (modified by flask effect) more flask life recovery while low life, on top of a bunch of other low-life flask passives. Hybrid flasks are considered life and mana flasks. That means it's effects should not be lost at full life! So, Divine Distillate is used for resistance and magic find alike. Now, you might imagine that any build which invests so much into life flasks, only to get no personal benefit, would be defenseless. Here is where the magic happens: Sorrow of the Divine makes your life flask recovery also apply to energy shields! Your life recovery goes to your allies, while you get energy shield recovery. And guess what? As your life flasks effects are not removed when at max life, neither will your energy shield. How do we recover life if we have Zealot's Oath and life recovery flasks don't apply to us? We simply get master surgeon and that one flask mastery to gain 16% of life when we use a life flask. As this recovery is not tied to the flask itself, it should bypass the restriction of Druggery to heal us. With the downside of Druggery now fully bypassed, we are left with the bonus of having our allies share our life flask recovery, and our life flasks not being removed at maximum life/es. Suddenly, this belt is very strong! As a final flask-related bonus, There is a chance that the "of Restraint" hinder modifier is affected by flask effect. If that is true, then combined with an anomalous maim, we can get almost 100% reduced enemy movement speed just by drinking flasks and hitting dudes. Most monsters will be practically unable to move at all. You get enough defense to survive most one shots, and you're good to go for most content. After all, what can kill us with 41k es regenerated per second? What else can we do to help our allies? Magic find of course! We can get a free 18% item quantity from flasks, of course we're going to abuse that! Grab a Gravebind so we get all the kills contributed to us, Goldwyrm, maybe a Ventor's, a gold flask for the memes, and magic find on all of our rares except the chest. If we're really feeling comfortable, a Greed's Embrace can push it even further. Lastly, we have a weapon, so why not slap in a Kingmaker? While we're at it, we need something to do while chugging flasks, so why not cyclone around collecting power charges on crit? That would help refill our flasks with the Master Surgeon ascendancy. All kills count as ours already, so why not also get Conduit and Bloodrage? With Enduring Cry to boot, we can generate all types charges for all of our allies. It's the ultimate support build, if everything fits into place. The questions:
There are probably more potential pitfalls here that I haven't caught yet, any of which could break the interaction entirely. Any thoughts? Has anyone here tested this sort of stuff before, or can test it in standard? [link] [comments]
[3.17] Absolution league starter checklist and tips Posted: 31 Jan 2022 06:43 AM PST Absolution Let's get it out of the way, Absolution will be one of the best minion build league starters. If you decided Absolution is your minion build starter, I will make a list of what I consider good tips and tricks to the build. I have been playing way too much absolution, I played it to 90+ in two gauntlets, having 10+ 95 characters in HC and 3 chars above 98. Problem: The skill is feeling clunky, having trouble spawning minions in the start of maps and on boss fights. Tips: There will always be a bigger clunkiness compared to permanent minions like zombies, golems and spectres. You can swap a damage support gem for faster casting, it is not a large damage decrease. Having faster casting makes using spell echo a lot more tolerable. Have secondary minions deal enough damage to kill white mobs. The secondary minions (zombies, golem, spectres, AG) killing the white mobs for you make spawning sentinels a lot better in the start of a map or a boss encounter that spawns minions (10ways etc) writhin Jar, if you can get the timing right so that your secondary minions do not kill the worms before you cast absolution on them. But it is a duct tape fix at best, but worth a shot trying to spawn the minions for boss fights or start of maps. Remember getting the gloves that makes all kills count as your kill do not work. Always have increased minion duration, you get a lot from enduring bond passives and necro mistress of sacrifice. Going out of your way to get more duration is generally not worth it, example duration mastery. 10 quick league start tips
Animate guardian Your AG can make your build a lot better, there are plenty of guides on how to gear your animate guardian. Cheaper options include Leer cast, dying breath and vicario's flight. Expensive options include kingmaker, Garb of Ephemeral and crown of the tyrant. My tip focus around getting +1/2 curses on your AG, you can get curses on hit with glove corruptions. If you do not use fleshcrafter, then elemental weakness curse is good. You get this by getting windscream boots/ hunter +1 curse chest + elemental curse on hit (corrupted imp). AG will have an extra curse, so you can curse the target and your AG can. [link] [comments]
Any Fireball Enthusiasts have anything cooked up? Posted: 31 Jan 2022 05:44 AM PST I haven't played a fireball build since breach league I think and the new handcasting buffs have me wanting to give this a go again now that I'm way more experienced at the game. I'm hoping for a build that scales decently enough on a budget to reach red maps and zoom through them with enough investment. Not really looking for a bosser. Problem is I've never been great at PoBing things. I was thinking elementalist is the logical leaguestart friendly ascendancy. Maybe fit in a martyr of innocence if/when affordable. If anyone is planning on league starting fireball, would you mind sharing your thoughts/approach and maybe a PoB if you have? [link] [comments]

Best shield crush build this league? Posted: 31 Jan 2022 12:38 AM PST Hey guys, my dad can't speak english well but wants to find a shield crush guide that he can follow Is all the stuff in 3.16 still applyable or are there better up to date versions for shield crush? Thanks! [link] [comments]
What are some tricks or ideas that you have for levelling through acts faster? Posted: 30 Jan 2022 09:37 PM PST I am a very mediocre to bad player and it takes me upwards of 7 hours to almost 7 and a half to 8 hours to get through all acts into maps. And some of the reasons I have noted while looking back is I often wouldn't know rewards or where the gems I need are or what level they become available. Also perhaps this might be the one that makes my run significantly slower is I don't know layouts or optimal routes. So here are some tricks I have noticed or heard about that can help someone who doesn't know about them level faster. And I hope you guys can also mention your tricks and ideas that help you levell through faster. In the temple parts where you climb up the stairs the next stair is diagonal to the stair you get out of so if you are bottom right your next stair is top left and so on. Way point to allira's zone is on the path so just follow the path instead of running randomly. In solaris lunaris act if you go on the waypoint of lunaris before harbour bridge and you run straight to right you will find it is much easier to find solaris/lunaris fight. Please mention your strats on layouts that help you run faster while avoiding dead ends and how you go through the acts as in what steps or turns make the run faster [link] [comments]
SSF Bleed Bow Deadeye improvements & FAQ Posted: 30 Jan 2022 12:56 PM PST Since someone posted my previous video where I talked through my rough plans of playing a bleed bow build as a possible starter in 3.17 I thought I should make a follow up video covering some improvements I've made to the tree, clear up some confusion on the build and clarify a few mechanical questions that popped up in regards to bleed duration etc. Again something I really cannot stress enough is while I am confident this will be a very serviceable build for people who want to play non chaos DoT bows next league if you want an easy to level well rounded, safe, steady and consistent bleed bow build pick Gladiator. Deadeye does have several advantages but the main reason I'm playing it is becuase its a little more interesting mechanically and I've never played a Rupture Deadeye before. Hope this helps some peeps. PoB but please check the video for the FAQ [link] [comments]
Poison Blade Trap Assassin help? Is it too convoluted to work? Posted: 31 Jan 2022 06:42 AM PST Blade Trap is getting a pretty substantial buff in that its going from from 67.5% damage effectiveness up to 96% damage effectiveness. Blade Trap is a strange skill in that it hits twice per rotation, so this is more like 192% damage effectiveness per second, as it rotates 4 times in 4 seconds. This is already very solid for an attack, but of course Blade Trap hits at least 4 times per 'attack' meaning you can ramp up your number of traps down at a given time. With a trap throw rate of 2.5 with Cluster Traps, we effectively throw 7.5 traps per second. With Divergent Blade Trap and dual wielding we get 65% increased rotation speed and 5 rotations. 5/1.65 = 3.03 second trap damage rotation. With 7.5 effective throw speed, and a duration of 3.03 we can get about 23 traps out at maximum. With a rotation speed of 1.65, and each rotation hitting twice, we get this equation for the total hits per second with your traps fully ramped: 23 * 1.65 * 2 = 75.9 hits per second. Obviously this is a completely absurd amount of hits per second, which is why I thought it would be perfect for poison. I initially tried the standard poison claw setup with Wasp's Nest, but the DPS ended up being lower than expected. I ended up opting for 2 of the Heist daggers with the implicit 'All damage from hits with this weapon can poison' and going for a high eDPS, which resulted in far more poison dps. Several issues came up though, and those are as follows: 1: How to sustain Nightblade when traps don't trigger it. I've thought about using a secondary melee skill linked to Nightblade to trigger it, but that would kind of be annoying, but would be fine for bossing the skill somehow dealt damage passively. Vaal Lightning Strike Orbs? Vaal Double Strike Clones? (Can they even proc Nightblade for you?) Static Strike with Increased Duration maybe? This is probably the best solution. 2: Maintaining the '20 enemies poisoned recently' from Noxious Strikes. Traps don't count so that's already a problem. I've seen people use Ball Lightning on Herald of Agony builds to upkeep Virulence, but I would need to automate it somehow so I can actually throw traps in the meantime, as throwing out BL casts every 4 seconds on bosses sounds like not a fun time. If all buffs are lined up, I'm looking at about 7.4M ramped DPS on basically trash-tier gear, but getting those conditional buffs is going to be difficult. Is this a pipedream, or is this actually possible to pull off as an Assassin? [link] [comments]

Posted: 31 Jan 2022 07:16 AM PST Hey everyone, I'm a noob @ POE only have 460 hours, I've played nothing but GCM [Glacial Cascade Mines], & Cyclone. Looking too switch it up this time around. I was thinking of a Cold DOT selfcaster, or some form of lightning spellcaster. Anything anyone recommends? Posted: 31 Jan 2022 04:07 AM PST I'm the type of player who does 1 build all league, I start something and finish with it, previous leagues it's been the Vortex Occultist. If you have experience in either/both builds, I have a few questions. Would you go Deadeye or Raider for each of the skills? Or is one better on budget gear and the other with investment? I also would like to earn my voidstones at some point, so is one of the builds better than the other at bossing with some investment? Also, I know both builds have miserable single target early, but what would you do (barrage/ballista/other) to handle map bosses very early? I have a lean towards Lightning Arrow, because it sounds like it'll be a lot better early if I pick up a Hyrri's Ire with a newly buffed bow and quiver. But at the same time, I like the interactions in Ele Hit way more, so if the ceiling on it is way higher then I'd like to roll with that. Any help in deciding would be appreciated. 3.17 Miners/trappers, swift assembly always better than cluster trap/minefield? Posted: 30 Jan 2022 08:58 PM PST So in 3.17, Swift assembly hasn't been changed. I have compared it with Multiple/cluster traps and minefileds At lvl 20: swift assembly: 18% chance 1 additional trap/mine 12% chance 2 additional trap/mine 6% chance 3 additional trap/mine Expection: 1.6X 100% damage trap/mine in 1 unit throw time. Multiple traps: 100% chance 2 addiitonal traps, 52% less damage Expection: 3X 48% damage trap in 1 unit throw time, 3 more traps in total 1.44X 100% damage in 1 unit throw time Cluster traps: 100% chance 2 additional traps, 55 less damage Expection: 3X 45% damage trap in 1 unit throw time, 5 more traps in total 1.35X 100% damage in 1 unit throw time Minefiled: 100% chance 3 additional mines, 46% less mine throw speed, with 40% overhead throw time Expection: 4X 100% damage mines in 2.59 (= 1/0.54*1.4) unit throw time, 4 more mines in total 1.54X 100% damage in 1 unit throw time It looks to me that Swift Assembly is better in the perspective of DPS, if you don't count the additional total mines/traps. I have the feeling that in the fight I sheldom have the opportunity to deploy traps/mines at the maximum number (except for a few boss fight like conquerors). From this perspective, should trappers/miners solely use swift assembly over cluster traps/minefields? [link] [comments]
Beginner Question before teh start of 3.17: How much DPS do you really need? Posted: 31 Jan 2022 06:40 AM PST As the title says: How much DPS do you really need to clear all the content? I pretty much hate starting new characters and i plan to do an earthshatter zerker (i like the gameplay of earthshatter). i improved over the last few leagues and made it to early red maps last league before i burned out and became bored by my skeleton mage necro. this time around i want to try some endgame bosses. so i looked up some hcssf builds on poe.ninja and the maximum dps was around 1million wich was pretty much top geared and i think i will probably not hit that. Is this enough for bossing? Any tipps apreciated! P.S.: I havent watched it to the end but this build looks promising https://youtu.be/fMO3jP5sF8I so i will probably follow it (pob: https://pastebin.com/UA7qEYXK) Edit: Uggh. I want to correct my thread title .... [link] [comments]
A Few Tips about the 3.17 "boom-boom" EA totem builds that are exploding this reddit these days. Posted: 30 Jan 2022 12:59 PM PST Disclaimer: I tried the Elementalist version on Standard and killed the Mino on a white T16 (3 silly deaths) having only the following:
Good Luck and Have Fun in 3.17, fellow Exiles! EDIT: Forgot to add something that might baffle many players; in maps that have monsters that deal a lot of cold damage / damage, your totems might be chilled / frozen, etc. In such cases, consider selecting the Totem Mastery "Totem's Action Speed cannot be modified to below base value". [Work in Progress] Deadeye Trinity Helix League Starter Posted: 31 Jan 2022 03:48 AM PST Been testing different helix builds for two weeks now and settled on Deadeye Trinity as the best version. Jungroan has been making this build pretty popular but doesn't have a build guide for it so I figured I'd give it a shot. Its my first attempt at a guide so feedback is appreciated.
