Petition to remove unveiling from Jun's menu, and make it a secondary function of wisdom scrolls. Posted: 23 Sep 2020 02:34 AM PDT Title. Having to haul veiled items back to the hideout after heisting is even more tedious than interacting with Jun usually is. Having Jun be the unveiler made sense during betrayal league, but now it's just a bit of a pain. [link] [comments]

Heist's Biggest Design Flaw is Linear Layouts Posted: 23 Sep 2020 07:29 AM PDT Many of Heists issues have this to blame as the real underlying issue. You can't be stealthy or avoid mobs when you only have 1 narrow path to follow. This leads to issues with alert on kill since killing is unavoidable (unless you cheese run in circles). Even alert on spotted would be an issue since you can't avoid being spotted. Even the followers are really just the same flavor of "remove this barrier on your linear path". You aren't finding hidden passages or creating alternate routes or tricking guards at all. It's mandatory to move forward in a straight line and is a product of that layout design decision. If the maps were less linear, opportunity costs could be reintroduced. Go farther off the more direct route for extra chests means encountering more mobs/patrols/alert. That's OK since you opted for that opportunity costs and maybe selected a member suited to that playstyle. One path may have more patrols/alert but more/better chests but that'd be ok since it's your choice. Patrols would be more manageable. All patrols should be on minimap since 3rd person view is too limited without. The patrol is currently going down path A? Go down path C instead or wait for them to move on from A. Currently the patrols have tiny little side rooms only half a screen away and that's as much distance you can put in a game where you blow up stuff offscreen accidentally. There's no real interesting counter play. Less linear layouts means heists members could do more interesting stuff than just "open mandatory door". Distract patrols (freeze in place, turn around, etc). Open up alternate paths or shortcuts (instead of the direct path). And have more than one job option per Contract, even if you can only select 1. I should look at a contract's (maybe just blueprint's) layout and have a choice between Demolition to create a connection between 2 adjacent rooms that skips a bunch of hallways/patrols (even if blowing up said hole raises alert slightly) or someone who could make navigating that hallways with its loot more doable without generating a ton of alert. I can only take one so it comes down to preferences and which rewards mattered to me. I would actually have to study the layouts and plan my heist and create my plan of attack like the trailer suggested. This really doesn't happen even with Blueprints currently. I think non-linear layouts for Heists wouldn't run into the issues that non-linear MAPS have run into.
It's easy to play backseat developer. I imagine they had grander plans/ideas but lacked the time/resources to implement them properly (considering the bugs we have with the slim downed version we got). And there are likely unexpected issues/pushback that would come from complicating it like this (but I don't think it's the same "overcomplicated" issue GGG has run into with past leagues). But as it is, it's just a little bland from a gameplay and aesthetic and immersion POV. [link] [comments]

I am just going to say it... Harvest ruined me Posted: 23 Sep 2020 12:02 PM PDT So i am a long time player of poe playing since open beta. Every league we have a party that get together to play whatever the amazing people at GGG have been working on. However this league (after harvest) i haven't really had the desire to farm that much.. I mean.. for what? In harvest with deterministic crafting you were farming to complete the build of your dreams (even if it came after a month of playing). However with the RNG crafting model, there is no end in sight with farming. That really worked counter productively with my desire to farm as i know my build will never truly be perfect, not even close to it. Has anyone been experiencing similar results? Former Mario Bros. player, my thoughts on Heist and GGG. Posted: 23 Sep 2020 09:23 AM PDT First off, a little background. I started on the original, the one that shared cartridge space with Duck Hunt. For about 2 years of my life this was all I played, then Contra came out. Mario Madness followed, and we all wondered why we were digging down in sand, but still good. Then #3 came out, hands down is the best of all time. I watched The Wizard at least 6 times and knew where all the warp whistles were. I streamed to my sister who complained non-stop and would hide the controllers. So, yea, needless to say I was a pro. Now on to heist. The beginning of the game reminds me a lot of the beginning of Mario Madness, Mario Bros. #2. We are confronted with the existential choice of who to be; I chose a shadow since I thought he was the closest to Toadstool. The gameplay is pretty similar. Run the campaign, level up, kill baddies, get cool skills that make killing baddies easier. I do like that we get a princess at the end of Mario, but that's neither here nor there. Heist reminds me of dropping down a tube and not being able to collect all the coins in time. My one complaint is that there are no warp whistles. My suggestion is to have Piety drop it in Act 4, and go to Act 6. Then you could skip Malachai, cause F that guy. Now on to GGG. Let me start by saying that in my day if you wanted something changed, you had to write a letter, mail it, and then hope they added it in the next game...in who knows how many years. Do you know how much postage to Japan was in the early 90's? I would have loved a Bowser nerf, but I never even got so much as a return letter. I almost had to stop playing a game that I didn't enjoy and complained about all the time. Could you imagine? Wtf would I do? Well, like all streamers, I complained to my sister but she just laughed and told me I suck. Anyway, my point was, it's nice to be connected these days, and that things aren't falling on deaf ears. I didn't even have to go the post office to check how much it was to mail this. [link] [comments]
