Is anyone else finding the game not as hard as the folks on r/PathOfExile do?

    Posted: 01 Aug 2021 03:53 AM PDT

Kinda off topic but I've been playing flicker strike which I don't think is meta at all… I didn't find leveling that hard and I've managed to beat most of the content. The game isn't that hard and yes the top dps that I will have is 69mill(nice) instead of 84mill (according to pob) which is a lot but not as much as people make it to seem.

I personally think the game is in a good state, yeah the new skill are quite underwhelming but I'm sure ggg will do something about it like they already did with absolution.

    Any thoughts?

Fyregrass's Forbidden Rites Totems on extreme budget as a chieftain with updated prices

    Posted: 31 Jul 2021 12:59 PM PDT

Hi. I was having issue with my forbid totems, so I decided to look for a guide that would help me to re-design the build, while still keeping the core defences and Fyregrass tree pathing and item options are absolutely spot on. I pop it into POB, and meticulously side by side started building my chieftain with the imported Fyregrass hiero tree. You can easily use this with hiero and get another 1-1.5 million from extra totem, but you lose defences that chieftain can provide and these defences can allow you to get on the same numbers as a hiero without extra totem, which would be just bonus damage later on.

    Here is the result: https://pastebin.com/trLFg6Zz

So? What is difference? First, the items. This is as I stated before an absolutely piss-poor budget. We are talking 40-1.5ex, compared to 3ex. No rare jewels (except for our holy trinity and cluster, but more on that later), no rare weapons, no unique boots or belts, just the absolute minimum you need to get going, crushing content like nothing else, while not being made out of paper.

Singularity- great defensive and offensive sceptre. 1C

Ahn's Heritage- You can run two singularity, but I like the defence options of this shield and ability to get 60% block chance with glancing blow. 1C

Helmet- bread and butter, resist and life. I bought this today for 5, usually at 10

Soul Mantle. 4L if needed (you lose damage multi), otherwise 5L 20c.

    Gloves-resist, life 10c

    boots-resist, life MS 10c

    Amulet, resist,life 10c

Two Kikazaru (1c): This is where I decided to get a damage and mana penalty. I don't like conditional buff and debuffs and curses working at 30% if I don't stand on consecrated ground? Naah. I'll take the few thousand damage hit compared to that.

Belt: Resist, life. I bought the one in POB for 5c. Arn's anguish is interesting choice, but not needed. We are getting 15% more from ascendancy when we lose charge and the lost of resists (especially chaos res), life regen and phys reduction is unjustifiable. Also, it's expensive.

At the end, we are at 80 chaos max, barely an exalt.

Flask: absolutely optional except for basalt flask. No restrictions applied. I would advise to look for mana flask because our mana cost to cast totem is twice the Mana regen we have.

Jewels: This is where you can save the most currency.

Cluster: 6 passive medium jewel: shrieking bolts, streamlined. 5-10c. Good damage and defensive option. Taunt is godsend in expeditions and tougher boss fights.

Rain of Splinters: This jewel skyrocketed. Don't go higher than 40% damage reduction. 35c

Clear mind: Since we are reserving zealotry, this jewel doesn't work with our setup. From the 16c we would spend on the jewel, we can find crit multi/increased totem life jewels for 1-5c.

Self-Flagellation: This is where I see people just going full on braindead. Exiles, 20% version costs right now 50C, while 18% and 19% is about 15-20c. Those are jewels for min maxers, not for players who are starting.

Overall, the entire build will cost you 130-150c. So, what is the difference compared to Hierophant?

You are chaos capped. Just like this, you have 75% chaos res. You'll find the game much easier when shit doesn't nuke you out of nowhere.

You have in-build 600-800 regen, without buffs. This allows you to turn on standart RF in combination with vaal RF, if needed. Those two skills are not accounted in the presented POB damage calculations.

A single projectile from totem leeches you for 600 life and we are firing 4-8 projectiles per totem with 3 totems. You can do the math. This is a massive defensive tool against aliments, especially bleed.

60% chance to block with 65% damage received. Glancing Blow on it's own after the changes is not something people cheer about, but once you have life recovery (preferably on block) it can turn you into an AFK build.

1K more life than Hiero version, with additional 1600 hit point from MS, but we loose MOM.

    Fortify on movement skill

Self cast wither. Not only we can get much higher level arcane surge more reliably, but we have very fast cast speed and if needed we can double it with divergent wither. At 8 casts per second, we can stack max stack of wither with divergent wither within a single second. No totem shuffling needed, no damage loss from re-summoning totems.

Fully upgradable. This is probably what I like about this setup the most. Once you have enough money, you can just switch your gear as presented in Fyregrass's build (both 3ex budget and mid range) on the go. No attribute changes, no resistance changes, everything stays exactly as it was, but you suddenly deal 1-2x more damage.

    Example:

    Standard POB

    2 Items removed

    upgraded

This makes a great personal progression system where upgrade is actually noticeable and every new piece of gear pushes you on a higher damage tier. All passive points are accounted for, no regretting needed, just buy the jewel/item, slot in and you are good to go. Some might need extra slots, but the tree is modular enough that you can respec from extra life or optional nodes.

    Focused Ballista and Explosive Arrow

    Posted: 31 Jul 2021 08:26 PM PDT

I was trying to come up with a oneshot build for the bow using the Snipe skill on Assailum and came across an interaction that seems like (on paper) it would be really strong. EA works by multiplying the explosion damage by the number of new EA arrows (up to 20) that the target is hit by after the first.

Many EA builds I've seen uses ballista totems to get to 20 stacks, but an issue with the build is that it is hard to know which EA is going to be the important one and which of the other 19 EA's damage values are basically inconsequential (and only matter because they are stacking the important one).

However, I feel that with Focused Ballista, you can now reliabily get some rather huge EA procs off. I plan on using Snipe, but even a regular 6L should still be able to do some huge burst damage (with a significant ignite proc after the fact) on a regular/semiregular basis. Here's how you would do it.

Firstly, 100% accuracy is kind of important here, because you can't afford your totems missing.

    1. Drop 5 ballista totems with EA, Ballita sup, barrage sup, faster attacks and focused ballista (faster attacks is qol, multiple totems is easy way to get extra totems without investment). If using snipe you can use 6 totems if you want to guarantee you get 20 arrows to hit (if for some reason a few of the totem attacks miss), since you you'll only be attacking once with this build.
    2. If using snipe, charge up the skill before releasing it at close to melee range. If self casting, go close to melee range and shoot one arrow (6L, just ramp it with as much more% dmg as you can find)
    3. Once you let go of the attack, each of the 5 focused ballistas will shoot 4 (very weak) EA arrows as a barrage which (with minimal investment) should be able to all hit the target within the 1 second window that you need.
    4. Rinse and repeat (if using snipe, you probably won't have to).

Obviously this setup won't work for mapping, but I have a slightly memey pob that can hit for 36 mil + 9 mil ignite without any expensive uniques (except bottled faith, which is a 20-25% dps diff, mostly because of the crit chance you lose). Obviously this build has very little in the way of defenses and requires a bit of a konami code to set up the full damage, but I'm not an expert with POB, and there's definitely a much more consistent build in there somewhere. For those who are interested, here's the POB: https://pastebin.com/391ecAHD. Ignore the full DPS number, it's completely busted. Just look at the Average Damage and Total Damage per ignite to figure out the true pop damage of the explosion.

I do plan on trying this out but I don't get that much time to play and I have another build I want to level first, so if I get around to playing this it'll take a good while to do so.

Cheapest Possible Aura Stacker - The Twisted

Raise Spectre builds on ninja. Cold SO's vs Brutality phys aura stackers.

    Posted: 01 Aug 2021 03:50 AM PDT

I'm looking at making a SO Spectre build, and having made the build twice previously with 4g Triads and going full cold, I want to mix it up.

I'm seeing a few necros on poe.ninja going with +1 bows and linking Brutality. Using a bunch of auras along with items like Victario's, Vivinsect, Alpha's ect.

I'm wondering how they fare against each other, does the phys version have a huge currency cost to get going? Is there any guide for the phys version? A quick google search brought up nothing.

Hello flicker strike player in 3.15. How does it feel right now?

    Posted: 31 Jul 2021 10:15 PM PDT

Right now I'm playing SST bleed glad and manage to reach lvl94. So I thought it was time to switch build. At the beginning, I was planning to build flicker but I really underestimate the mana nerf. So do flicker feel clunky now?

Edit: I got about 12ex right now so probably can only afford farrul and paradoxica. Is this enough to start?

Help with Blazing Salvo Ele Build

    Posted: 31 Jul 2021 11:32 PM PDT

Been messing around with a blazing salvo + flame wall Ele as a league starter. The playstyle is fun, and it's not a horrible build, but getting through yellow to red maps and engaging some league content is becoming pretty painful.

The DPS is pretty good for how little I've spent so far, but the survivability is pretty bad.

Any help with reworks or possible upgrades the build, gear or skill setup would be awesome. Thanks!

Shield Crush not doing any damage.

    Posted: 01 Aug 2021 01:39 AM PDT

Can someone tell me what is wrong with my build? I was playing with bleed SST till reach lvl94. I try to switch to shield crush because my SST is not enough to clear blight with multiple boss. I'm using the LL version where you use Redbeak sword. But as you can see, I'm really disappointed with the damage. So how people get more than 1m DPS but my DPS is like half of them.

Question about Battlemage's Cry + curse

    Posted: 01 Aug 2021 04:23 AM PDT

Hi everyone! I'm using 4L Battlemage's cry+Absolution setup in my DomBlow build( don't shame me, I just like it).
Yesterday I tried to put hexblast+curse in it, but double triggering seems don't work with BM'sC.
    But now I'm just using BM'sC + Absolution + Frostbite(curse).
And I'm very bad at testing things, lol, so I can't understand if it works at all)
BM'sC description says that it "Exerting subsequent attackS", so it may be more than 1, right?
And Frostbite has "spell" tag as Absolution, and Absolution has no "Attack" tag or something like that. So they must work both, right?

What would be a good build for someone who just wants to see projectiles flying everywhere?

    Posted: 01 Aug 2021 12:35 AM PDT

I love seeing projectiles flying everywhere across the screen, is there a good build for this sort of thing? Preferably something self cast/attack. Doesn't have to be the best build but ideally it'd be possible to do end game content.

Max block gladiator SST to a new skill suggestion

    Posted: 01 Aug 2021 04:21 AM PDT

Thinking about trying out another skill. I haven't used over half of them so I am experimenting. I enjoy SST just want to try out something new. I do find clearing is a little bad though but that could be my build. I feel like during temple incursions I am in a huge rush compared to my cyclone build last league. I don't like poeninja on mobile not at my computer but when I click on gladiator all I see is SST and shield crush not a single other skill for some reason. I was thinking about trying out earthquake? Any suggestions? I did like cyclone last league but I was struggling allot in red maps. Also any build links for suggestions would be appreciated and I will look at them when I get home from work. Most of my nodes on the tree are currently on attack speed, bleeds, and raised attack with shield so something that could transition fairly easily.

    Boneshatter build in progress

    Posted: 31 Jul 2021 09:23 PM PDT

Seems like every league I spend as much time playing PoB as I do playing PoE. I just discovered this sub and it seems many of you are in the same situation. I have been working on a BoneShatter build and wanted to share it with this group along with some thoughts I have collected regarding the build. Full disclosure I have very little end game experience so I have no idea how viable this build will be there, normally I only get to yellow maps, sometimes a few red but I am pretty excited about this build as it seems the strongest of any that I have come up with. I'm currently only level 54 or so but having fun with it so far.

    PoB: https://pastebin.com/wKpvtuXA

It seems like every time I look at it I missed something or need to change things up. My original idea was an endurance stacking jugg with tidebreaker and multistrike, then I learned multistrike would not work, also 6 link tidebreaker is expensive (to me). Reading some more I figured out that building trauma stacks is one of the best ways to scale this build so I switched the tree around a bit, got some skill duration and lots of attack speed. The gear used is all pretty cheap, 25-30 chaos at most, I think. (other than vulnerability on gloves which are not currently available, and the helm enchant which I forgot to look up).

I've gotten it to where I can theoretically generate ~80 (6.45 aps * 10.2 secs * 1.24) stacks of trauma, unfortunately that means about 17k (80 * 214) damage coming back at me every hit, not survivable with the gear I have.

Unbreakable is an awesome node and according to what I've read can make you immortal with regards to physical damage if you have enough mitigation, the magic number there according to my math is 87% mitigation, this goes down with leech and regen. With the setup I have, I think I need 77% mitigation to survive the 17k hit, with the starter gear in the PoB I'm at 47% :( I think that would let me get to ~21 stacks, swapping in the brass dome gets me to 47 stacks

Taking Unrelenting could boost my mitigation another 10% which would get me to 72% mitigation with the dome but the requirement is higher there because the regen + leech is lower.

None of these calculations take immortal call into account because that is not 100% uptime and it makes it lots more complicated. Maybe that will let me survive much higher trauma stacks.

The other thing I tried out was the Craiceann set. If you get armor/helm/boots I think you could sustain 10-15 crab barriers at all times giving another 20-30% phys mitigation plus lots of armor. The magic there comes from the boots preventing loss of all barriers on hit and the helm preventing los of any barriers if you've lost any recently. That combination allows you to regen all lost barriers in the prevention window granted by the helm. The gloves would raise your average barrier count but not change anything fundamentally. I think that combination would allow you to stack as much trauma as your aps will allow but it is more expensive.

Anyway, wanted to share this with the community and see if others have suggestions for improvements or other thoughts. I did not mention flasks because I am terrible at using them. I just recently noticed I have had a mana flask on my bar for the last 20 levels after switching to Blood Magic. I think onslaught and granite flasks would be the most help but suggestions there are appreciated.

PS Yes I know there are way too many uniques in the build, I like uniques and they are easy to build around. Probably lots of upgrade to be had there as well.

    Need help with boneshatter

    Posted: 01 Aug 2021 01:34 AM PDT

Hi everyone, I'm playing boneshatter impale jugg in SSF and I got to 1,2 mil sirus dps. The biggest problem is at 15+ trauma stacks each hit chunks like half of my hp. Is there any way to mitigate that? Even at max endurance charges, fortify and with jugg ascendancy it is incredibly difficult to deal sustained dps on t16 bosses. I could go bleed, but don't know if it's a good idea with a staff. Any ideas?

Slayer 2H Cyclone vs Chieftain Fire conversion Cyclone. Which would be best to scale with currency invested.

    Posted: 31 Jul 2021 03:01 PM PDT

Hi all. I'm a bit burned out on SSF glad after completing most of endgame and getting to 1.1M dps. Kind of feel like pouring more curreny into my build right now would not be worth it as RT bleed seems to have quite a cap in terms of damage.

I'd love to do either a 2H slayer cyclone with a nice exquisite blade or a chieftain fire cyclone. Can anyone share their thoughts on either one and which would be best to invest currency into for a long haul.

    Thanks! (SC trade btw)

Currently i'm playing a duelist with shield crush. I'm enjoying it in SSF league.

While searching poe.ninja builds, i'm confronted with Slayer and Gladiator builds.

In terms of clear and defenses, aoe and single target, what's the main difference between both?

    Thanks :)

Why aren't a lot of people playing generals cry?

    Posted: 31 Jul 2021 12:38 PM PDT

So far from what i've seen, it is a decently fast mapped, and its single target is rather insane.

So what exactly is stopping people from playing it? It seems rather overpowered, and with how this league feels, it being decently fast seems like it would be a good fit.

All of it's uniques minus paradoxica are cheap, the 6L is cheap...

Am I missing something critical here?
